It’s the kids day camp with the grown-up difference. What do we mean by that? For starters, adults, not high school kids, supervise your kids. They’re coaches, teachers, mothers, and college students. People who know how to motivate kids, and keep them focused. What’s more, Kids Playing Camp Inc., has a 1 to 6 ratio. That’s one adult for every six kids. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Why? Because we want to make sure kids get the kind of one-on-one attention they need to evolve. It’s a smarter, safer way to do things.
Kids Playing Camp takes place at Northeastern Illinois University. Campers have access to state of the art facilities including two gymnasiums, racquetball courts, dance studios, classrooms, olympic size pool and acres of outdoor play space, including shady trees, tennis courts, baseball/softball diamonds and more.
Our campers are from over 23 different schools throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. They represent economic, racial, cultural diversity as well as private and public schools. The goal of Kids Playing Camp is to inform and educate campers on differences in a compassionate and informative way without lecturing. That is why our diversity of our campers and families sets us apart…we are authentic to who we are and what we do.
While having fun is always front and center, so is helping kids develop a sense of confidence. Through various hands-on sports and leadership activities, kids learn how to respect themselves and each other. They learn that boys are boys and girls are girls, and that one isn’t any better or worse than the other. They’re equally wonderful and filled with potential. And that holds true whether they’re black or yellow, red or white.
Kids Playing Camp puts the focus on FUN through sportsmanship. FUN through cooperation. FUN through understanding diversity. Kids LAUGH. They LEARN. They have a great time. And, in the process, they GROW.
